As this year draws to a close, Student Division is proud to announce that we have accomplished most of the goals we had in place for the year. The division is not only considered most improved, we also have the largest number of paid members. As the division aims to constantly work on opportunities for our student members, we will end this year with information regarding scholarship and internship opportunities.

Divisional News

The Division is busy with open applications for interim EC positions. We are aiming to train the Interim EC during the year 2017 so that they may take over as of September 2017. For anyone interested and have an average above 65%, click here to apply and email your CV, Letter of Motivation and photo to our secretary, Maham Hasan, at studentsecretary@psyssa.co.za

Collaborative Efforts during the Student Protests

It came to the attention of the Student Division that the FeesMustFall protests will have a lasting effect on the student population and that even in our limited capacity, we should be able to do something. As such we contacted a few of our partners in trauma debriefing and psychology for assistance and guidance.

PsySSA Student Division is currently in collaboration with Lifeline. Lifeline has been offering two free trauma debriefing sessions in Pretoria. Group Debriefing sessions are also provided for. After two trauma debriefing sessions will be provided for at a reduced price. A poster was created to advertise the service provided and was shared on social media. (See poster below).

Student Division also collaborated trauma debriefing in Johannesburg with SADAG (South African Depression and Anxiey Group). SADAG was offering on phone counselling and was in the process of attempting to arrange on-campus or near-campus debriefing sessions. SD was also in collaboration with JuPHASA (Junior Public Health Administration of South Africa) in creating platform for students to voice their concerns regarding the violence taking place on campuses.
